This year’s Minnesota Airports Conference opened its doors to students from Minnesota State University–Mankato’s Aviation Management program, offering them a unique opportunity to engage with industry professionals and gain real-world insights into their field.
Delaney Carlson, president of MSU’s Aviation Management Club, said the students were invited by their faculty advisors. Throughout Wednesday’s sessions and the evening social mixer in the vendor exhibit area, the students immersed themselves in discussions and educational sessions. “I loved the keynote speaker,” said Jacob Veness, a first-year student.
“It’s been really informational,” added Ammy Vang. “There’s so much to learn—laws, regulations, and all the behind-the-scenes work.”
For Caleb Michael, the conference offered more than just a learning opportunity—it allowed him to reconnect with someone who helped him secure a summer internship. “I’ll be able to learn more about the organization I’ll be working with,” he said.
During the evening social hour, Cole West was focused on expanding his network. “I’m hoping to meet new people,” he said.
For these students, attending the airports conference wasn’t just about absorbing information—it was about envisioning their place in the aviation industry and taking clear steps toward their professional futures.
