Aviation professionals from across the state gathered April 23–25 for the annual Minnesota Airports Conference at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato. The conference brought together experts, practitioners, and industry partners for three days of learning, networking, and recognition.
This year’s program included a wide range of technical and safety sessions, an industry trade show, and an awards ceremony.
Keynote speaker Kristin Scroggin brought an engaging tone to the event with her insightful talk on generational communication in the workplace. Her presentation encouraged attendees to embrace diverse perspectives, build stronger teams, and better understand how to recruit and retain the next generation of aviation professionals.
MnDOT Aeronautics’ Ryan Gaug gave a state update on day one, while Bryan Ryks of the Metropolitan Airports Commission wrapped up the conference on day three by sharing insights on the latest airport developments.
Additional sessions explored key topics such as airport building eligibility and spacing requirements, navaid notes, bituminous pavement maintenance, the airport land acquisition and release process, state funding opportunities, and the future of systems such as ILS, VOR, and GCO. Attendees also received updates on the MnSASP data portal, the NASAO airport affiliates program, and MnDOT’s workforce strategic plan.
Be sure to read highlights from the Mankato Airport open house tour and a recap of the always-popular sessions from returning presenter Kim Kenville.
