2024-2025 Advanced Air Mobility Webinar Series

About the Series

AAM aircraft designs
Advanced air mobility aircraft designs

This nine-webinar series will focus on advanced air mobility (AAM), including what airports across the country are doing to prepare for AAM operations at their facilities. AAM systems efficiently move passengers and cargo using sustainably powered aircraft that feature innovative propulsion systems or highly automated aircraft, each with a gross takeoff weight of 300 pounds or greater.

These webinars will feature experts in AAM aircraft manufacturing, operations, and supporting services sharing their insights and lessons learned. Join us to hear from those who have begun implementing AAM and get perspectives that may be useful for Minnesota airports!

There's no cost to participate, but separate registration is required for each webinar you would like to attend.

Webinar Schedule and Registration

This webinar discussed how large cities are planning for AAM integration with examples including Orlando and San Diego. Attendees heard about unique methodologies used to create protocols and guidelines for establishing AAM-specific zoning ordinances, navigating regulatory requirements, and understanding complex airspace issues so that interested original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or AAM operators have a roadmap for their proposed operations. The session also explored how system planning is integral to city planning and vice versa by understanding state regional needs and tying into systemwide electrification and alternative energy strategies.

Special Federal Aviation Regulation (SFAR) 120—otherwise known as “The Powered-Lift SFAR”—establishes new operating rules for a new category of aircraft that take off and land like a helicopter and fly in cruise like an airplane. The SFAR is the final major rulemaking necessary ahead of the introduction of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft which meet the powered-lift definition. In this webinar, hear from Joby Aviation’s policy and regulatory affairs lead about how this rule creates new pathways for pilots, and the regulatory requirements for day-one operations.
