Congratulations to the 2023 award recipients!

The Minnesota Council of Airports recognized its 2023 aviation award recipients during an Airports Conference luncheon at Breezy Point on April 25.

A Project of the Year Award for Intermediate Small GA Airport was given to Jackson Municipal Airport Runway for its taxiway and apron Improvements. Accepting the award were representatives from the City of Jackson, consultant HDR, and contractor Svoboda Excavating.

A Project of the Year Award for Intermediate Large GA Airport was given to Fillmore County Airport for construction of its new terminal building. Accepting the award were representatives from the airport, consultant SEH, and contractors Wieser Brothers General Contractor Inc.

Fillmore County Airport award recipients
A Project of the Year Award in the category of Commercial Service was given to Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport for construction of its Airport Rescue and Firefighting and Snow Removal Equipment Facility Construction. Accepting the award were representatives from The Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport Commission, consultant Mead & Hunt, and contractor Hy-Tec Construction.

The MnDOT Office of Aeronautics Award of Excellence was given to Thief River Falls Regional Airport, accepted by airport manager Joe Hedrick. This annual award recognizes a local, public Minnesota airport or an airport sponsor that demonstrates significant contributions to the communities and region it serves, or accomplishments in safety, sustainability, efficiency, management or capacity.

The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s Above and Beyond Award was presented to the FAA Dakota–Minnesota Airports District Office. The award recognizes employers at the local level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing their guard and reserve employees additional, non-mandated benefits.
