Economic Impact Study and Training

Minnesota Statewide Economic Impact Study report cover

Minnesota’s public airport system generates $18.2 billion in annual economic activity statewide, according to a new MnDOT study that details the economic impact of the state’s 133 public airports. The Minnesota Statewide Airport Economic Impact Study documents the broad economic impacts of the statewide system and provides detailed reports on the local economic activity generated by 126 of those airports. The study culminated in a public economic impact calculator.

Earlier this year, MnDOT offered training on the study methodology, calculator, and media tools to help share the economic benefits of airports throughout the state. That training is now available online. A two-part module provides a high-level overview of the methodology used in the study and instruction for using the Airport Economic Impact Calculator.
